Use one property baseline
Confirm each proposal uses the same legal entities, location schedule, construction and occupancy details, values, loss information, and requested terms. If a proposal omits a location or assumes a different value, a lower price may reflect different facts rather than a more favorable option.
Gather the comparison packet
Place proposal summaries beside the full forms, endorsements, declarations when available, schedules, valuation support, lease or lender requirements, and the expiring policy. Identify the date and source for every underlying fact. That makes a question traceable to the record used to answer it.
Read the terms that change scope
Compare covered causes of loss, scheduled property, valuation, deductibles, coinsurance or agreed value, sublimits, exclusions, business-income provisions, conditions, and endorsements. Write the real-world question beside each difference: which location, property interest, or interruption does this term address?
Record the decision and open issues
Keep the selected proposal, comparison worksheet, issued documents, and a note of material differences considered. Carry unresolved questions into the next review rather than relying on memory. Policy wording, declarations, and endorsements control; proposals are not the final policy.
